In 2004, Little known emcee, Rude Boi had been in & out of several local musical groups in the Delaware state, starting in 2001, but still without recognition, so he decided to make a change.
2005: Longtime friend, Kyle Kirk (The Wrecking Ball) saw the vision of could be… He quickly joined on and thus.. Nobody Rides 4 Free Records had emerged. They embarked upon their musical endeavor with no actual knowledge of the business what-so-ever. Dealing with ‘snake’ promoters and ‘get signed quick’ scams, the picture became more clear. The idea was to reinvent the independent market for music. And so the endeavor began.
2006: Rude Boi began to make a name for himself lyrically and began work on his first solo LP “The Legendary Nobody. Taking a collection of his favorite tracks throughout his already 5 year career and pushing the songs like never before. Along the way, Rude Boi & The Wrecking Ball began to grasp thier niche and gain thier independence through hard promotion tactics and hand to hand sampler sales around the tri-state area of Delaware, Pennsylvania & Maryland.
2007: “The Legendary Nobody” was launched side by side with the newly formed Nobody Rides 4 Free Records on May 25th. This was the turning point for the label, and mid year approached, they had sold over 1100 units of The Legendary Nobody and outsold all other openers to become co-headliner at shows with such musical acts as Tech N9ne, Potluck & King Gordy. Around this time is when producers, Mind Bent Music (Wyzman & Tha Animal) signed along with the 4. Quickly collaborating and releasing Certified:Rude with great responce, they became a permanent fixture in Nobody Rides 4 Free.
2008 quickly came, and to retain thier spot as the undefeated indie label of Delaware, Rude Boi began work on “The Making of a Legend”, The follow up to the highly acclaimed “Legendary Nobody” LP, while still performing along with hip hop acts such as, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Paul Wall & Ill Bill. August of 2008 came and while involved in a tragic car wreck, Nobody Rides 4 Free lost 1/2 of the foundation; The Wrecking Ball. Holding strong, Rude Boi fought to hold the label together and put the album on hold for several months to pick up and restart. While doing so, Daniel Black (CEO of Baladon INC.) was added to the label as a solo artist, and Mikey D. had been added as well as a solo artist.
2009: DJ Kev0n was added to the label as another in-house producer. They continued the reign of victory by coheadlining with such acts as Jadakiss & Esham and dominating local shows.
2010: Rude Boi released his long awaited sophmore release “Tha Making of a Legend” with great responce, and the label has coheadlined with Redman & Method Man, now venturing into the world of promotion (bringing such names as Bizarre of D12 to Delaware) and has started the BFC Artist Services. With now being able to record/manufacture/and give local rappers the oppertunity to do what they love… How can you go wrong?
The goal is simple: To succeed
As always, you decide your own level of involvement.. The only thing left is to make it happen.
